Simone Milasas launched the Joy of Business book in Portland, Oregon, August 2012.  Here’s a question from the audience… and a choice you could make for having the Joy of Business in your business! Audience: “The Joy of Business, the joy of life, what is it that you create and do or be with your business to make the things that may not be so joyful more joyful for you.  For some people it’s like “I don’t want to touch the accounting”.  What is it that you can be or do different that will change that for you if that’s what’s going on?” Simone Milasas: “A long time ago my father, who was an accountant, taught me a lot. I thought that he knew everything, and I began to speak to a lot of different lawyers and different accountants and find out bits and pieces of information and pull it together about what I wished to create.  And I still do that.  My dad drew this pie graph and he said,”This is the accounting section and it was quite big and this is the creativity and this is this…” and then I got so angry and then I stomped and was like, “NO! That’s not my business”. And I drew another pie graph and I was like: “This is the book keeping and accounting section and it’s boring and I hate it.”  And he looked at me and he was always so calm and allowed me the choice and he was like “ah Simone” (he is Lithuanian) “if you do not have this, you cannot have this”.  And I was like “damn” and I know he was right. So the thing is, with the accounting and with the bookkeeping that so many of you I know find incredibly boring, there is always someone who finds it incredibly exciting.  There is always someone who you can find to add to your business as well.  That is what I would ask for. And look at “What part of it do you like?”  We talk about the creator, connector and mover roles in business which is all in the book as well.” Simone Milasas ~ Author, Joy of Business (You can buy the book or the audio here if you’d like to know how to create joy in business!)
